Private company strives to make profit by selling goods and services. In the past, good and services were purchased by going to the store or shop physically. Along with the development of computer technologies, such business activities have evolved into e-commerce transaction made over the internet. Internet plays a key role as a mediator in this transformation process. Web changed all aspects of business social interaction between person to person, person to company, and company to company. Now that Web 2.0 era has arrived, users are empowered with more control over web than ever before, along exponentially increasing market for e-commerce. However, recently the web shopping and services have been experiencing web system performance issue which result in delayed service response time and frequent system down. Even more companies are experiencing web system performance issue despite millions of dollars being spent on high performing hardware and network equipments. Then what is the real problem?

I’ve met the head of IT department of a bank in May, 2006. At that time, he was struggling to launch a new online sales management system.
