In the APM market, Korean solutions beat global IT companies’ solutions. In the past, APM industry was mostly led by foreign solutions. However, Korean APM solution developing companies are now surpassing foreign APM solutions with competitiveness in price and JAVA technology.
Application Performance management (APM) solution industry has been grown over the 3-4 years in Korea. APM solution helps a system manager to prevent application’s performance degradation and sustain good service quality.
At the APM initial market stage, foreign solution, CA’s Wily Introscope dominated Korean market and then, other solution vendors like Symantec and Compuware started to jump into the domestic market.
However, such market paradigm rapidly changed 2 years ago. Korean APM solution provider, JenniferSoft, established in 2005 started to attract major big banking clients and now continuously maintains its position as a market leader.
In addition, other Korean solution companies such as TmaxSoft, Baseware, IPMS and Exam also launched their APM solutions in the market.
After that, APM market became the place of Korean companies’ not foreign vendors’.
Even now, it is difficult to find a client who adopted foreign APM solution in the Korean market. Thanks to the competitive edge in technology, Korean APM companies are also leaping forward in DBMS/EUS (End User Service) monitoring industry.
According to an expert at TmaxSoft, while foreign competitor, Compuware and Korean company Baseware are still in a fierce competition in EUS monitoring sector, foreign companies almost lost their competitiveness in WAS and DBMS monitoring parts.
Then, what are the strongest points of Korean APM solution? Many analysts point out technological superiority and price competitiveness.
First of all, there are enough human resources with high talents in Korea’s WAS (J2EE) industry comparing to the other nations as internet penetration rates are so high in Korea.
Moreover, Korea, which has under gone late industrialization and globalization comparing with other nations could get more competitive edge in terms of software technology than H/W, DB and Network because JAVA technology is the most recent developed language.
Except above factors, flexible customizing service to meet client’s needs and price competitiveness can be other elements of success.
Korean APM companies expect positive results in 2008 as well. In WAS monitoring area, market leader product, JenniferSoft’s JENNIFER and TmaxSoft’s Sysmaster is likely to compete. Recently, another competitor Kwise’s Pharos has introduced in WAS monitoring market. It is expected that they will face more fierce competition.
It is also expected Compuware’s ‘Vatage’and Baseware’s ‘Sound BPM’in EUS monitoring, and Exam’s ‘Maxgage’ and IPMS’s ‘DB Wine’ in DBMS monitoring market compete.
