Setting method of Jennifer client (browser), VM (Virtual Machine)
    [ Name: jennifersoft, Date: 07-06-26 16:27:44 ] ( ko en )

    Client Setting

Jennifer’s user interface (UI) consists of web UI which is embedded by HTML, CSS and Java script and graphic chart embedded by Java applet. Therefore, user should monitor performance related data collected by Jennifer Server through web browser installed Java plug-in. That’s why Jennifer’s client environment consists of web browser and Java plug-in. This page will explain how to set up Jennifer’s client environment effectively.

To operate Jennifer client, you should use MS’s Windows 2000, XP and Window’s Vista based PC. For web browser, MS’s Internet Explore 6.0 and 7.0, or more than Firefox 2.0 of Mozilla, opera 9.2 of Opera Software are recommended.

For Java plug-in, more than Java SE 6.0 of SUN or Java VM of MS is appropriate.

Under the other client OS such as Linux and Mac, we didn’t conduct operating test exactly. Therefore, we don’t guarantee 100% of Jennifer client operation within undesignated OS environment. However, there is no problem in using Jennifer client under the environment of more than firefox 2.0 web browser and SUN’s Java SE 6.0 because Jennifer client has been developed based on web and Java programming standards.

    Web browser

Jennifer operates in the web browser which embeds web standards such as XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.1, DOM Level 2, ECMA-262 3 and installs plug-in of more than Sun’s Java SE 6.0. Currently, most web browsers meet the above standard.

To use Jennifer web browser, you need to set web browser for using cookie and java script. Most web browser is set to use such function. And it will be more convenient to allow pop up page about IP or domain which installed Jennifer Server because some Jennifer UI allows pop up page.

    Java plug-in

Jennifer client supports both SUN’s Java Plug-in and MS’s Java VM. However, only MS’s Java VM is permitted under the environment which lacks of enough memory due to the limitation in allocating memory of SUN’s Java Plug-in.

Click Java tap in Java Control Panel after clinking Java in Control Panel.

You can see Java runtime setting page by clicking View including Java applet runtime setting scope.

Insert the following value in the Java runtime parameter column of the JRE. Maximum and minimum value of memory is 400 MD. However, there is a memory capacity limitation according to computer feature and its environment. If you set memory size more than its capacity, error can be occurred through web browser. But there is no specific standard about the size of memory capacity, thus user should set usable memory size through the process of trial and error.

    -Xms400m -Xmx400m

    Microsoft Java VM

Currently, MS Java VM is not installed in MS operating system. Therefore, MS Java VM should be installed separately. You can download Java VM program to install through under URL of Jennifer Server. Use below URL when you use Window’s XP and Window’s Vista OS.

    http://jennifer-server:7900/help/msjavx86_xp.exe , windows2000 인 경우 msjavx86_2000.exe

With the downloaded program starting up, following message shows on the screen. Click example to install MS’s Java VM.

Then you can find End-User License Agreement page. Click example, then installation starts.

    Then, installation finished.

To delete Java VM, user should download different program through under URL of Jennifer Server.

    http://127.0.0.1:7900/help/unmsjvm.exe

With the downloaded program starting up, following message shows on the screen. Click example to delete MS’s Java VM.

Then you can find End-User License Agreement page. Click example, then deleting starts.

It is recommended rebooting the computer after finishing deleting process.

    Web browser setting

In case of MS Internet Explore 6.0, set Java plug-in in Internet Option within Tool. Click an advanced tap in Internet Option, then you can find installed Java Plug-in information on the bottom.

If you installed both Java Plug-in and Java VM, select one what you want to use. If you select both of them, SUN’s Java Plug-in is executed.

For Firefox 2.0 web browser of Mozilla, you can set the use /nonuse of Java in the menu of Setting in Tool. Click content tap in Setting, then set Using the Java option. Generally, it is set basically
